Immunotherapy an adjuvant therapy
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your relative is suffering from metastatic melanoma. Along with other therapies, immunotherapy is used as adjuvant therapy.
Development of checkpoint inhibitors directed against CTLA-4 and PD-1 have demonstrated impressive clinical outcomes in the treatment of metastatic melanoma.
Studies are continuing to evaluate combination immunotherapy regimens including nivolumab and ipilimumab, IFN-α and ipilimumab, and multiple anti-PD1/PDL1-based combination studies. Studies of other immune checkpoint modulators including CD40, OX40, and CD137 among others are also ongoing.
It has been proved by various studies. If you want, you can read an article about it -The use of immunotherapy in the treatment of melanoma. XXXXXXX Achkar and; XXXXXXX A. TarhiniEmail author. Journal of Hematology & Oncology201710:88.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
