Question : My doctors office called today and left a message that they are concerned because my kidney function has increased. I could understand a concern if it had decreased but not increase. Why would he be concerned?

The blood tests , BUN (may also be known as urea) and creatinine are the main tests used to check kidney function.

Calculation of the GFR (glomerular filtration rate- how well the kidneys are filtering the blood) and also taking a look at the urine can also be used to check out kidney function.

it is likely that your doctor did the BUN , creatinine, when there is a problem with the kidneys , these values increase.

It is likely that your doctor means that there is an increase in these values indicating that they may be issues with kidney function
