Question: My husband turned the oven on to heat a pizza I noticed a smell but ignored it. Prolly 15 to 20 minutes went by before he realized that a plastic you was melted at the bottom of the oven. We opened the doors but ultimately decided to leave. I'm 35 weeks pregnant. Could the fumes I breathed in hurt my unborn child?

Brief Answer:
Not likely to hurt the child.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Inhaling the fumes of burning plastic at 35 weeks pregnancy are not likely to hurt the unborn baby in any way. The organogenesis is complete by 35 weeks and it is the time for baby's maturation. Also the exposure to fumes was a short one. There is no need to worry. Your baby is safe now.
