Is It Advisable To Do Jogging Or Exercise After Disc Replacement?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Feb 2015
Question: I want to know my chances of having problems or degeneration with the discs above and below my C5-6, where I had my disc replaced.
Also, can I jog or do some plyometric exercise? I exercise on a regular basis and in very good shape.

Brief Answer:
Chances of degeneration is very low

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and i can assure you that chances of degeneration is very low. Because disc replacement works like normal disc only. I have few suggestions though.
1.Avoid keeping neck in same position for long time.
2.Avoid jerky activities, jogging is not allowed, rather normal speed walking is allowed.
3.No neck exercises without supervision by a physio.
4.Avoid using very high pillow.
I hope these steps will increase life of your disc. Let me know if you want to ask any other followup questions.
Thanks.
