Is It Advisable To Take Phentermine To Loose Weight?

Question: I am general healthy, but I overeat and like to control that problem. I am retired and do some exercise. I ride my bike daily and eat a healthy diet, but I need some help to keep my weight constant

I am interested in getting a prescription(phentermine) which I have taken last year and it worked. I lost 10 pounds and kept on eating less for about6 month but then I slowly started increasing my food intake which I did not like.

I have gone through your query. It is better to avoid phentermine as it has lot of side effects.You can take a high fibre diet which helps in weight loss.

1. Avoid refined food items, white rice , refined flour, white bread etc
2. You can take rye bread, oats , buck wheat and whole grain bread. Taking lentils also is good. These all contain high fibre and helps in weight loss.
3. Avoid taking soft drinks, ice creams and beer. Use skimmed milk, low fat kefir, low fat yogurt etc. Take plain water more.
4. Include raw vegetable salads before your meals.
5. Take fresh fruits instead of juices which gives enough fibre which help in weight loss and stop getting added sugar.
6. Don't eat food while watching television or cinema. This will make you eat more.
7. Also avoid chips, biscuits and sweets. These contains hydrogenated fats and more sugar which make excess weight gain faster.
8. Drink tea and coffee with preferably less sugar which decreases your hunger. Drinking black tea with out sugar is helpful in most people for weight loss. You can take green tea also.
9. Talk to some one or involve in hobbies which decrease your tendency to eat more.

Your advise is well known to me, but doesn't help. I am aware of some side effects of phentermine, but I also know that if you can get a head start and lose a certain amount of weight, it is easier to continue.
So in essence you didn't help me at all and just advised me to do what is well known to most people.
I am disappointed since I really didn't need that advice and I am at the same point from which I started. So what good is your "advise" if I didn't get any help?

I understand that some people misuse certain medication, but not everyone falls into this category. Can you explain what is so dangerous to take one month of phentermine?

If you are tolerating the drug well it can be taken for limited duration like one month.But it should be taken under advise and prescription of your local doctor. We only can give you advise. Drug prescription are not allowed to be given here.

I advise you that it is better to avoid phentermine. Because it is a psycoactive drug. It is designed for short term use for obesity. Also gives withdrawal symptoms after stopping it.

Other side effects it can gives are cardiac problems like dysrhythmias, Hypertension, and nervousness , restlessness ,insomnia etc.
