Question : Hello... I am scheduled for sinus surgery on Monday, and I've been given a list of medications not to take, which I have followed, however I have been taking ashwagandha (herb supplement 470mg no more than once a day) to help with anxiety, and I read online that this may interfere with anesthesia. I'll be sure to mention this to the anesthesiologist on Monday when I arrive, but I'm curious if this is a cause for concern beyond just letting them know, or should I postpone surgery to be sure it's fully out of my system? I last took it last night and will not take it again prior to surgery.

Yes, aswagandha can interfere both during anesthesia and during post operative period.
It can increase the blood pressure, can decrease the blood glucose and can increase bleeding.
It has to be stopped at least 7 days prior to the surgery.

Discuss about it with your doctor and try to postpone your surgery by a week.
