Hi,
Thanks for the query.

It is not normal for any age to peeing blood. There are several causes for the hematuria like urinary tract infections, renal stones, glomerulonephritis, trauma to renal system and one serious complication of the mono disease is thrombocytopenia and haemolysis which can cause bleeding but bleeding due to thrombocytopenia will also be manifested with bleeding from nose and gastrointestinal tract.

As he is already taken to the hospital, so he will be evaluated for the mentioned causes.

if you still have some query, feel free to ask.

Thanks
Regards

He was not peeing blood when he went to the urgant care. It just started today....it is new. Does this mean bassed on what you said he should be taken back in to find the cause?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it is based on the causes mentioned above. It is strongly recommended to take him to hospital as he may be required to be evaluated for the cause and may require some test like complete blood count, urine analysis, ultrasound KUB and if suspected any structural abnormality then Intravenous pyelogram can also be performed.

If you still have some queries, feel free to ask.

Thanks
