Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand your concern.
It is common to have a false positive pregnancy test 2-4 weeks after an abortion.
However, if by 6 weeks you still have a positive test you need to see a doctor for further confirmation.
It is also possible that abortion may not have been fully completed.
I hope this answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

A week after the abortion an ultrasound was done and it was complete. The positive home test is still dark positive lines. Is it possible to still have the hormone showing up and not be pregnant 6 weeks after abortion? Is that common?

It is not common to have a positive test 6 weeks after an abortion. It usually takes 19-35 days for the hormones to clear.
Did you get your period and if yes, how many weeks after the abortion?
Are you sexually active?

If complete abortion was confirmed by ultrasound then the current positive test can only indicate a new pregnancy.
Yes, spotting may be common in some women in the first trimester. I would advise you do a blood pregnancy test followed by an ultrasound.
