Question : l had mirena coil fitted over a month ago l now have foul smelling black discharge and cystitis. ls this normal?

Brief Answer: Possible infection Detailed Answer: Hello, Any foul smelling discharge is not normal. Black discharge may indicate old,collected blood. But foul smell indicates infection. You may very well need a course of high dose antibiotics. Whether the coil needs to be removed, will depend on examination. See a doctor. Wash the the area with betadine solution.
