Question : Hello Dr RK. As I had written before, I was taking nexium 40 mg twice daily and then came to pepcid 20 mg twice daily plus tums as needed. Now I tried pepcid 20 mg three times daily and that works really good.
1) Is it ok to take pepcid 20 mg three times daily.
2) If yes, for how long.
Thanks.

I would like to have two alcoholic drinks once a week.
1) Are wine, whiskey and beer basically same for gastritis. Is one better than the other.
2)When I do drink, I will take one pepcid as my normal dosage. Beyond that is there anything more I should take before or after drinking: nexium or sucralfate or additional pepcid.
3)should I take additional probiotics before or after drinking. Any particular strain of probiotic that is preffered.
4)Anything else I should do before or after drinking.
Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
1. It is a better to avoid alcohol as it will worsen gastritis. You can avoid it until gastritis is resolved.
Wine, whiskey and beer are the same except for the alcohol percentage which differs with beer having the least percentage of alcohol.
2. Nothing more
3. No need for probiotics if you are only on Pepcid
4. As mentioned earlier I would advise you to avoid alcohol till gastritis resolves.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
