What I mean is that if I test after a month, will there be a chance to see an increased value?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Vaishalee Punj (58 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
HIV values depend on time after exposure

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

What was the duration between exposure and testing? Mostly HIV starts increasing after 3-4 months of exposure or even later.

A positive value of HCV can be lowered with treatment. Do you have liver or any other symptoms?

Please tell me whether I need to do testing every month to confirm I am not infected?

Answered by Dr. Vaishalee Punj (7 hours later)
Brief Answer: XXXXXXX test for HCV maybe done

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

You may do XXXXXXX test for HCV to confirm whether you have HCV or not. If that is negative then you donot have HCV and nothing needs to bo done about it.
If XXXXXXX test is also positive, then you have HCV.

Repeating the immunology test is not needed, irrespective of status of HCV in your body.

Dr Vaishalee

If I am tested positive for HCV , when should I start treatment? Can I wait for 1-2 months since I may be travelling to XXXXXXX in July?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Vaishalee Punj (22 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
HCV treatment needed for chronic HCV infection only

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

HCV treatment is needed for chronic HCV infection only. HCV is transmitted by blood only.
If HCV XXXXXXX is positive, then chances are that it may clear by your immunity only. So you can travel to XXXXXXX without any problem. No urgent treatment needed.

Dr Vaishalee

Doctor,
Is there a way to confirm whether I am having hiv or not with one month waiting after exposure?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Vaishalee Punj (12 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes tests are available

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Tests for HIV like PCR or P24 antigen testing can detect virus in the duration of exposure till 3 months. ELISA for HIV1 and HIV 2 can detect antibodies after 3 months of exposure.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Though I was tested negative for hiv 0.13 and positive for HCV 1.11 s/co, I am having too much stress. I want to know what is my actual conditions. Last test was on 24.04.2023. When and what tests I should do?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Vaishalee Punj (15 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Problem is "the stress"

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

You can do HCV XXXXXXX test at anytime and HIV1/2 ELISA test after minimum 3-4 months of exposure.

Problem seems to be the stress associated with it. Maybe you can learn some relxation breathing techiques in a yoga based program.

Dr Vaishalee

Brief Answer:
The reports are normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Thanks for rverting with details and I have seen the reports done in the date of 25 April, 2023 and 22 May, 2023.

Both the reports are normal. Currently no infection and nothing to be worried about.

Since you are doing HIV antibody testing you may repeat it after 2 months from today as well.

Dr Vaishalee

Dear Doctor,
Thank you for your response.
I have one more question. My wife is pregnant (2 months). Is there any tests I can do to confirm I am not infected with HCV.
Since I don't have any dates as last contact with a potential source of infection, you can consider 24.04.2023 (One day before my last test),as my last contact date.
Please advice.

Brief Answer:
HCV XXXXXXX test

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Regarding HCV, you already done serology testing two times. If you wish to confirm, then HCV XXXXXXX test can be done and that should alleviate your fears.

Dr Vaishalee
