Question : Hello,

I am at 18w2days of my pregnancy.conceived through ivf.had mmyomectomy traversal for 8 cm big fibroid an year and half ago. Today I went to my doctor for routine check up and he did thorough ultrasound for the scar..he told me so far things are fine but we cannot measure the thickness of uterus where the scar is..we only can check it routinely also he was saying the thickness at this stage of uterus wall is 1cm which is satisfactory. I am little worried now.also he was saying that the delivery we can expect around 21 October considering a big scar.to avoid complications. Please tell me about the severity of the condition.

Brief Answer:
Scar is healed

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Good to see your pregnancy is progressing well.

You have crossed many hurdles and nearing 20 weeks now which is great news. I am sure you will have uneventful pregnancy and delivery.

Measurement of myometrial scar thickness is not possible especially myomectomy. Even if measurements are attempted, it's generally wrong. Hence I don't think 1 cm thickness is a right calculation.

Myometrial thickness in previous cesarean deliveries are more accurate than myomectomy scar as the site of incision is more uniform.

Other than this, the myomectomy scar is likely to have healed by now. Hence there is no need to fear about scar opening up.

There are no special medicines to strengthen the scar tissue. I am sure it would have healed by now.

There is absolutely no reason to panic or worry. Stay relaxed.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
Is it a common procedure to check the scar of previous myomectomy during pregnancy or they have done that for my case? doctor was saying that the scar is big and at the fundus. And good that the placenta is at the posterior of the uterus.
Also,is there is any precautions that I need to take under such ccircumstances.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
You are normal. Hence relax

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Previous Cesarean scar thickness is checked. Even myomectomy scar is checked , it is generally wrong as myomectomy scar is difficult to see on ultrasound scan and not reliable due to various turns during incision.

You don't need any extra precautions. Just relax.

Hi,
Yesterday I went to my doctor for checkup and he asked me to go for a 4d ultrasound. The ultrasound showed bilateral Cloroid plexus cyst in fetal brain. Then he refered me to fetal medicine specialist who after further examination told me that there is nothing to worry about. These cysts usually disappears after 32 weeks and even if not it will not cause any harm.

I am attaching my reports please suggest me if further iinvestigation is required.

Brief Answer:
Wait

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

You dont need anymore investigations.

You need to wait and for these cysts to disappear. Repeat scan after 2 months might show cysts disappearing.
