Question : I am aasking for my 17 year old son - normal height and weight. We are going to take a long overnight inter-continental flight of 8 hours which is usually bumpy. I usually take 1 x 1 mg Ativan to both sleep and reduce anxiety. If he needs something to relax/ sleep, is it safe to give him a half mg. (0.5 mg)? Thanks
Brief Answer:
Yes, it is safe to give 0.5 mg of ativan for flight anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, giving 0,5 mg of Ativan is safe.
Ativan (lorazepam) belongs to a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. 1 mg dose of ativan is commonly used for flight anxiety. Giving 0.5 mg (half of the 1 mg tablet) is safe for your 17-year-old son and helps him to calm down and relax during the flight.
I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.
