Posted on Thu, 7 May 2015
Question: What is the best kind if water to drink? And, is there a certain brand in the USA that is recommended. We have been drinking distiller water for many years and NOW we read it is not healthy to drink. My wife and I have constant acid and we feel the distiller water may be causing some of the acid. Please advise

Brief Answer:
reverse osmosis is the option

Detailed Answer:

Hai,

Tanks for consulting us.

Long-term consumption of distilled water containing low TDS levels, may lead to electrolytes imbalance and body water volume distubances.

As your acid problem should be ruled out clearly with your medical history.
i cannot conclude your acid problem is because of consumption of distilled water.

Ideal drinking water should be under 50 ppm or lower. The average tap water in XXXXXXX contains approximately 350 ppm of TDS .

As drinking water should contain recommended amount of minerals and other essential substances.
Depends on the availability of water source and its TDS in your locality. You can choose to drink water.
Reverse osmosis method is one of the suitable and acceptable method for safe drinking water as of now. WHO RECOMMENDS RO.

You can check for RO (Reverse osmosis) provider in your locality.

Hope I answered your query

Dr. S, it is my understanding Reverse osmosis eliminates the magnesium and calcium in the water. Should supplements be used?

Brief Answer:
let me explain

Detailed Answer:
Hai,

Magnesium and calcium source in drinking water is minimal.

no need to depend on water source for your magnesium and calcium requirement for your body need.
In this situation, drinking water should not harm you rather than supplementing minerals.

However minerals are essential ,but we can choose from other sources.

You can take banana, diary products and meat which are rich source of calcium and magnesium.

No need to worry about the water source of minerals.

Preference of drinking water should fulfill the primary function.

All other things like minerals and other substances comes next.
