Such episodes are generally caused by certain viruses. Nyquil contains Dextromethorphan which is a cough suppressant. Although it can be given, I would not suggest that. Rather I would suggest giving some expectorant or steam inhalation. You can also give saline nasal drops like nasoclear.
Flu liquid capsule can be given if you like but I do not consider it essential.
