Brief Answer:
Take one additional Lisinopril tablet.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P

See headache could be due to lot of reasons. Stress , Tension, Sinus Congestion , Migraine , High Blood pressure or some problems in the brain .

Headache due to any reasons can cause rise in Blood pressure . So at present it is difficult to say whether your headache is due to elevated Blood pressure or its the other way .

My advise to you is to take one additional dose of Lisinopril and recheck BP after 4 hours and also take one Paracetamol . If your Blood pressure comes to normal range then you can resume the previous dose of Lisinopril from tomorrow .

But if the headache is persisiting in spite of Bp coming to normal then you need to consult your doctor soon as you may require certain tests and scans.

Do some steam inhalation and if possible get a head massage with oil .

Hope this information was useful to you.

Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Hi Doctor,

Thank you for your time. I followed your advice today ... to take one additional dose of Lisinopril and recheck BP after 4 hours and also take one Paracetamol; except I took 600 mg Ibuprofen instead of Paracetamol because my liver enzymes are elevated.

After 4 hours, my BP is 135/100 and I still have a headache at the base of my skull and behind my ears. I have taken skullcap herbs before for headaches. Is it ok to do so now that I am on Lisinopril?

Brief Answer:
Avoid Skullcap Herbs

Detailed Answer:
HI

There is no sufficient evidence about the safety of Skull caps and also its interactions with Lisinopril is not known .

So my advise is to avoid Skullcap Herbs .

You can continue to take Ibuprofen for a day or two . But in case headache persists it would be better to consult your doctor as you may require evaluation for the cause of headache . You may require a drug called Pregabalin in case there is no relief for Ibuprofen.

Hope this information was useful to you.

Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.

Data regarding Pregabalin indicates the need to inform the physician ...

... if you have high blood pressure
... if you have a history of mental or mood problems (eg, depression)

I know you are aware of the first, but I have both. Do you still recommend this drug?

Brief Answer:
Safe in Hypertensive patients.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Apologies for late response.

There is no problem in patients having High Blood Pressure Taking Pregabalin . I have used it on lots of my own patients having high Blood pressure .

But in patients with Depression some caution has to be taken as it can increase Depression and sometimes cause Suicidal Tendencies. But this effects is extremely rare but if your depression level is very much then better not to take Pregabalin. But if your depression is controlled then you can take it .

Hope this information helps you.

Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards

Depression is not yet under control. If not Pregabalin, what do you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Try Amitryptaline

Detailed Answer:
HI

Alternative is Amitryptaline but I would still recommend Pregabalin instead of Amitryptaline.
