She is 10 days post op and had the back slab plaster removed and a air cast ankle stirrup applied and advised can now partially weight bear. Brief Answer:
She can partially bear weight on foot.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After 10 days of surgery, she can partially bear weight on the foot. The bones are fixed with the help of screws. It usually take 3-4 weeks for the bone to heal completely. But partial weight bearing will help her in regaining the lost strength of her foot muscles.
It is not too early to bear weight for her. Rest assured partial weight bearing will not do any harm to the fracture site fixation.
I hope this answers your query.

Many thanks for your reply. Could I just ask you one more question with regard to the air cast stirrup. Is it okay to be wearing this now, or should my daughter be in an air cast boot or plaster for more support?
With many thanks

Brief Answer:
Plaster is not needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
After an internal fixation, much support for complete immobilization is not needed. Air cast boot or plaster will be more cumbersome for her and she will then need more of physiotherapy to restore her movements around her ankle joint. Air cast boot is enough to provide support as of now.
Hope my answer is helpful.
