Is It Safe To Stop Butrain Completely?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Apr 2015
Question: I m using the patch Butrain since its new on the market ( the seven days one,10 mg). Last "3 weeks instead of putting the new one on the seven day, I did on the 10 th day instead. I asked my neurologist if I could stop for good. It told me trying to change it on the 10 th day XXXXXXX it's gonna be 14 days
My questions are
Would it b ok to stop NOW COMPLETELY
Or I should put one again XXXXXXX .....????
And I hve to admet I feel different. ... Kind of so stressed or anxiety. Pain in my legs, or so
I was taking it since 5 years
N than suboxone 3 times a day for 5 years n those years I hve no clue what happened
I was so HIGH. I was not able to HV a conversation I was so daily sleepy
Couldn't drive my car
It was terrible.
So the patch has been my life saver
I had
FIBROMIALGYA Since dec 27 th I don't Hv the pain daily n each week I wasn't not able to function anymore. I had to lay down 2 or 3 or even 4 days every week even hving the Patch
On dec 27 th I went to c a Phrophet Since no pain daily
Don't ever hv to sleep coz I'm not fonctionning
I really HV no pain!!!!
My neurologist doesn't think its gonna last
But I do believe to miracle since I'm so different
So what are the side effects n what to do ...
Putting a new patch XXXXXXX 14 th day
Or stopping for good
Tks for attention
Soon I wanted to stop my cymbelta I take since 2003 or 2000
Going bck to bed
Gonna check ur answer tomorrow

Brief Answer:
I would not suggest you to stop it altogether.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

According to your history and description of events.
Plus the meds you have been using,

In my opinion ,your neurologist is probably right, you wouldn't want to take a chance with your pain .

It's ok to believe in miracles but we can't risk too much believing in things which rerely happen.

I would suggest that you can take calculated risk like you can with time prolong the patch changing interval.

Like you have extended it to 14 days you can extend it to 15,16, 20 gradually but when you start feeling, you need to change it, then change it.

I would not suggest you quitting it altogether. It might get very difficult for you and you might end up having with drawl symptoms or severe pain.

And then you might end up using an increased dose.

So all you can do is, you can try delaying the change as long as your body doesn't really ask you to change it but dont stop it altogether.

....

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

Regards,

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.

Hi,

Thanks for writing back and your appreciation. I am pleased if my answer helped you understand your problems and gave you ways to deal with them better.

Yes I will suggest you to go back to number of days in which you stay comfortable if you can manage your pain well and patch helps you well for 10 days change it after 10 days if you can go longer you can go longer but please don't hurt yourself too much.

You asked if you will be able to get rid of medicines ever?

Well nothing is 100% in medicine but according to medical knowledge it seems a hard thing that you will be completely off meds but yes i hope medicine dose and patch changing gap will increase with time,

But even if gap doesn't increase , still you musrt be happy to know that you are among very few people of the world whose meds are working fine and they are happy.

I can tell you about so so many people who are taking meds but these are not working for them and they don't know what to do.

So feel lucky and cherish the fact that you use a simple patch and it works like a magic for you :)

Wish you the very best of health.

Everything is clear rite now. Feeling better after all yours explanations.
I really did appreciate your help and your point of view.
You are so right, I should b very grateful
I used to HV so Mch pain for so many years until last dec 27th 2014
I still take Cymbalta for a minimum of 10 years
When the patch situation would be over
Than I would take care of Cymbalta
Also I forgot to tell you, every 3 months I hve Botox in my head
For migraine n fibro
Even there is no fibro, my neurorologist doesn't want me to stop yet the Botox!!!
I am blessed I think since December
I put bck my patch on 14 th day!
It took 24 hours before I saw an improvment
But no more question from me,for now.....
U gave me enough of your time
Have a great day

Brief Answer:
Take care of your meds:) and you

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back and such kind comments,

I would like you to follow your neurologist's instructions strictly , because he must be knowing what he is doing and advising,

You will to stay clean from meds is great but this shouldn't happen at the cost of your health.

Meds are for our benefit and we can leave them only if our body is fine without them.

So i would suggest you to keep your best try going to stay better but dont leave it or change doses without informing your doctor.

Same is with the patch you extended it too much and it caused you pain and then it didn' act on your body for 24 hours so you can avoid meds but not too much,

stay blessed and have a great great time :)

It was a pleasure helping you and you response was always so positive.

and as it says on my page "Healing doesn't mean the damage never existed, it means, the damage no longer controls our lives. Together we heal..!!!"

Stay safe and healthy.

Regards.
