Question : Hello i am an 82 year old man.... i have 6 stents implanted in my arteries since XXXXXXX 2011... i take ecosprin 75mg daily... due to onset of macular degeneration in both my eyes, my opthalmologist asked me to stop the ecosprin... i want to know how safe it is to stop the ecosprin and what might be the consequences?? ne other alternatives that you may suggest...

It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with age related macular degeneration.
Ecosprin and other anticoagulants are known to increase the risk of development of wet type of age related macular degeneration.
However the exact relationship is still not well established and requires further evaluation.
The decision to stop ecosprin and other anticoagulants need to be weighed against the benefits. In your XXXXXXX since you have undergone stent surgery, I guess you need to continue ecosprin.
