Question: Hi,

I take medical cannabis for my crohns disease , i use it in edibles , vaporizer and the odd smoke when short for time.

i have been started on Xeralto for my bloodclot in my lung for next three months but im worried as my crohns will start getting worse, i know i cant smoke with a bloodclot in lung , but is it safe to take small doses of edibles ? im worried as xeralto is a new drug and dont want to hurt myself or cause more bleeding etc

Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

1. You are saying to be suffering of Crohn's disease. May I know if it is in the remission stage or flare up (activisation)?

2. Xarelto is important to use in your case due to blood clot in your lungs. If the actual stage of Crohn's disease is remission, you have less chances to get bleeding side effects.

3. However, in any case, I advise to follow up with measuring INR level as it will help adjust the dosage.

Hope it helped!

Following answers to your queries.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

1. If your Crohn's is in the remission state, then, you have less chances for bleeding.

2. However, if you decide to take marijuana , I advise to use small amounts. Marijuana itself increases the risk of bleeding. If combined with xarelto in Crohn's disease, the risk is higher although studies have concluded that it can ease the symptoms of Crohn's and prolongs duration of remission state.

3. To my opinion, you should get blood test first, then continue taking marijuana together with xarelto.

Hope it answered to your queries!
