Is It Safe To Take Narco For Knee Pain While Suffering From Cold?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 May 2016
Question: So, I have a bad cold -- coughing, stuffy nose, sore throat -- Dr put me on an antibiotic (I think as a prophylactic to pneumonia.) very uncomfortable -- can't fall asleep notwithstanding taking Valium 5mg and a benadryl. I have some Norco on hand from previous knee surger. Can I safely take the Norco. I think it will make me drowsy. I am not addicted to pain medication.

Brief Answer:
Supportive treatment is advised too...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your bad cold.

Antibiotics will help with bacterial infection. Supportive medication is also necessary:
- drink plenty of fluids (water, tea, juice)
- consume chicken soups
- take cold medications but should not take benadryl as cold meds do have antihistaminic inside apart antiinflammatory meds (e.g. paracetamol)

With regards to Norco, it is a potent analgesic, can take. To reduce the chance for drowsiness, do not take valium when take it or try to rest more.

However, I still think you need other supportive treatment as mentioned above.

Wish fast recovery!
