Is It Safe To Take Virgin Coconut Oil And Tri-Pep BCAA Supplements Along With Prescribed Medication?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Sep 2015
Question: are there any concerns with taking the following supplements for my age/condition and in conjunction with the med's already being taken by prescription? The reason for adding these supplements is that I am beginning a fitness work-out program, a version of crossfit, and would like to maximize the benefit of both achieving general fitness improvement, weight loss, while minimizing the soreness of muscles due to daily workouts.
sorry, forgot to include the supplement details, now here:
Virgin Coconut Oil 2000mg, twice daily
CLA - Conjugated Linoleic Acid (from Safflower oil) 50-50 isomer blend of Cis-9, Trans-11 and Trans-10, Cis-12; 950mg, 3 times daily
Concentrated Fish Oil, liquid oral, (anchovy, sardine, mackerel); 1600mg, twice daily, (contains 800mg EPA and 500mg DHA per dosage)
Tri-Pep BCAA (2:1:1 ratio) 10g in 30oz water taking during each workout, once daily

Brief Answer:
These supplements are biologically safe.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

The supplements you mentioned are relatively safe.

The risk of allergic reactions is usually minimal.

Many of your supplement components are synthesised inside human body though in significantly lesser quantities.

Hence, the risk of allergic reactions are minimal.Out of the 4 supplements only fish oil needs a special mention since individuals with known allergy to fish products should avoid it. The rest of the 3 are biologically very safe.

Ragweed cross-allergy with these supplements is insignificant and rare.

Also, you are currently under protection against allergy through your regular medications like Montelukast and Fluticasone.

Hence to conclude, these supplements are biologically safe and you can take them. Please cross check my opinion with your doctor(immunologist preferably)

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
