Brief Answer:
Zerofat not recommended in pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, I have gone through your question. Zerofat is orlistat which is a drug given to control fat and lipid levels in the body, and sometimes taken as weight reducing drug. It is not known clearly that whether this drug is excreted in breast milk and whether the infant absorbs it. The manufacturer of the drug does not recommends it to take this drug if you are breastfeeding.
Moreover, the complete nutrition of the baby comes from the breast milk. The baby gets his fat intake also from breast milk. Fat is a important source of energy in infants and is required for adequate mental growth and is necessary to avoid malnutrition. If you will take orlistat, it will inhibit fat absorption from food in your body and breast milk will thus be devoid of fat, thus depriving your baby of the essential food component.
