Is It Safe To Take Flucloxacillin Along With Food?

Question: I've been given flucloxacillin for an infected skin ulcer. I am however currently trying to lose weight (I'm obese) and I find it significantly easier (mentally and physically) to do so whilst grazing, rather than having massive gaps between meals. This makes taking flucloxacilling extremely difficult (due to the 2 h after eating, 1 h before dilemma). Is it ok to take it with food or do I need to change the medication?
Brief Answer:
Not to be taken with food...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Usually, Flucloxacillin is advised to be taken on an empty stomach (30 min or 1 hour before/after meal). It is not advised to be taken with food as food will slow down its absorption by the intestines. Instead, you should take it with a glass of water.
If Flucloxacillin is showing good effects on your infected skin ulcer, I do not advise to change therapy until you totally finish it. In case there is no improvement, you can ask your doctor to change therapy according to the culture and sensitivity testing of the infected ulcer.
