Question : is it save to use amlodopine (5 mg) with LOSARTAN 100 mg and carvedilol 12.5 mg? I also take allupurinol 300 mg. ( I want to stop taking HCT.) I have been on medications for 9 years following a stroke. Extreme fatigue, but had Lyme disease as well - twice or more. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
It is safe taking amlodipine, losartan and carvedilol together!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
These medications can all be safely taken together. What is your blood pressure while on these drugs? Excessive reduction in blood pressure might be responsible for this. Let me know what your numbers are.
I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if you have any further concerns.

Here are 3 readings while on HCT, LOSARTAN, AND CARVEDILOL: 148/80/84(pulse) 3rd # ; 154/80/90; 147/84/82. Next question is: Do you recommend one class of drugs over another? I really have no heart problem - just high blood pressure. Also, I have gained a lot of weight since my stroke and Lyme disease as "crushing fatigue" is a constant factor. I now weigh 315 - was at 230 at onset of stroke 9 years ago. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Your blood pressure is well controlled!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
At 75 years old, a pressure of less than 150/90 is considered good. We get more aggressive with persons younger than 75YO. I will recommend that continue with them.
With decreased exercise secondary to stroke, you need a well balanced and hypocaloric diet to maintain your weight. Who looks out for this? It is extremely important to be aware and make the necessary changes.
