Question : had a vaginal ultrasound yesterday and today I have a lot of itching and soreness - is that normal ?
it almost feels like a yeast infection but not exactly

Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

This itching is common due 2 reasons.

1. Condoms used on vaginal ultrasound probe if unhygienic, it can cause irritation and itching.

2. Condoms or probe covers used might be allergic to you.

3. Anyway this is temporary. It will go away.

4. Try Washing with soap and water twice daily and you will be fine.

5. When you go to the scanning center next time please mention that you had these symptoms so that they change probe covers and take precautions with gel.

how long should it take until the symptoms go away ?
if they don't go away in that amount of time what should I do ?

can I have intercourse in the meantime ?

It takes about 3 days for the symptoms to go away.

Wash with soap and water twice daily in mean time.

You can have intercourse. No problem.

If the symptoms dont go away let me know after 3 days so that I can suggest alternate remedies.
