Is Itching In The Vagina Indicative Of An STD?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Nov 2017
Question: I am suffering with periodic severe itching in vagina and labia since 2 weeks now. The itching is worse in morning and night. I had to stay wet for few hours 2 weeks ago getting drenched in rain, which I assume is the cause.Have been using lactacyd/v wash and coconut oil with camphor for relief. But the itching persists and has caused bruises too as it is uncontrollable.
I am sexually active. My partner doesnt complaint of any itching but was diagnosed with warts near finger nails for which he had just finished the treatment.
Is it a STD or some yeast infection? Please help.

Brief Answer:
Candidal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
It seems to be the candidal infection which is a fungal infection of the vagina.
You should take vaginal suppositories like candid vaginal pessaries once in night for 3 nights.
Also take oral fluconazole tablet once a for 14 days.
You can take levocetrizine for getting relief from itching.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thankyou mam.
Should I continue to use coconut oil with camphor for local application or would you suggest something else?
Also, is it something of serious nature and does it spread through sexual contact? What precautions should i take to ensure this would not recur? How long should I abstain from any sexual contact?

Mam should I continue fluconazole further or take a break of 2-3 days? Also, should i continue taking the vaginal pessary for this week? The discharge is still there with some improvement in itching during the day.
