Question: Hi Doctor, We r trying for a baby and from last month monitoring the follicles growth through pelvic scan. My period is normal and have 26th to 28th day cycle. I am diagnosed with 20mm simple cyst in right ovary (found in the march scan and april). please clarify the below queries: 1)Meprate 5mg OD from D5-D25 : Doctor asked to have this tablet for cyst and even asked to try for the kid. I am worried because i read this tablet is not safe for baby. Can we have this tablet while trying for a baby. is it safe for the baby if i get conceived? 2)20mm Simple cyst is dangerous or it will go on its own? Its mandatory to have the tablet for removing cyst? 3)As i am having thyronorm everyday, is there any problem intaking Meprate along with thyronorm? 4)Profert F tablet (2tabl BD*1month) - doctor asked to have this tablet also for 1month. If Meprate stops ovulation why should i have this tablet. What is this tablet all about. 5)And i feel very difficult after each pelvic scan, continuous pelvic scan will create any issue in future? I feel very confused, please suggest what to do. I should have Meprate or not, we are deliberately trying for kid. I have attached my scan reports. Please advice.

Brief Answer: yes Detailed Answer: Hi I read your query and I understand your concerns. Following is my reply 1. Meprate is not totally safe and has some minor problems in few women. But conception is unlikely while on progesterone. So dont think much about pregnancy while on this drug. 2. 20 mm cyst goes on its own. No need of tablets. But in your scan reports it has persisted in march and april. So take OCP 3. Having thyronorm along with meprate is no problem. 4. Profert F is not required. Dont take. 5. Getting scan done frequently is safe. No problem. 6. Meprate is not required for you rather take any oral contraceptive pills for one month as cyst has remained in march and april scans. 7.

Hi Doctor Thanks for your reply. It helped me a lot. So you suggest me to take contraceptive pill instead of Meprate. I have never taken contraceptive pill, so can you suggest me a contraceptive pill and dosage. How long I would have to take it. Would the cyst will go in one month? Does the contraceptive pill cause any irregularity in my period. Or can i neglect this cyst and try for kids without any medication. Would this cyst cause any issues during pregnancy period. I read like, if the cyst rupture after I get pregnant that might harm the baby. Please advice. Thanks

Brief Answer: Yes Detailed Answer: Hi The cyst would not cause problems during pregnancy. But it makes getting pregnant difficult. You can get prescription for contraceptive pill like Ovral-L from your doctor. If cyst persists after pill also please visit an IVF specialist to confirm type of cyst and the possible treatment of the same. Regards
