Question : Hello I saw my diabetologist and my Microalbuminuria level was 1456. Up from 814 last September. What does this mean for me ? My doctor did not address it.

Hi,

Microalbumin urea test is done to detect early kidney damage due to diabetes. It can be 30- 300 mg/per 24 hours being permitted by the kidney to be excreted in the urine. Earliest diagnosis can arrest the progress of the condition by timely treatment.

Normal limits are less than 30 .... while more than 30 detect early affection of kidney due to diabetes, while more than 300 mg indicates XXXXXXX albumin in the urine (which could be due to chronic kidney disease).

The condition demands extensive investigations to find-
- status of diabetes control
- Status of blood pressure control,
- Urine examination routine/microscopic/culture & sensitivity
- Kidney function tests
