Is Negative HIV ELISA Test Report 3 Months After Exposure Conclusive?
I am from XXXXXXX
I had 2 sex encounters on 8th December and 15th December 2015 with CSW in korea.
Sir i was physical with a girl on 29th January. We went to private space. I did not had sex with her. But i was in my underwear and would have rubbed my penis against her vagina ( with her underwear not yet removed).
I did HIV 1 @ 2 Elisa Test on 15th April 2016 which came out negative.
On 27th July, I also did another test with name "HIV1 antigen & total antibodies to 1&2 (Chemiluminescence)" and it came out as value of 0.14 ( cut off value 1.0) hence non-reactive. Same time i was also diagonosed with HSV1&2 igg as positive and igm negative. The doctor advised me to take acyclovir for a week and i had it for 1 week.
I again did STD panel test from Dr.lal path lab on 4th August 2016 and got HIV results for test
"HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST, SERUM @" as 0.04 ( non-reactive).
My question is doctor can i conclude i do not have HIV1 and HIV2 virus?
You are free from HIV 1 and 2 infection. Need no further testing.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
You had your first test for HIV 3 months after the risky exposure (after the window period). That test itself ruled out HIV. Subsequently it was confirmed by two another more advanced tests for HIV for another two times. So you are free from HIV.
STD panel were also nonreactive and ruled out other STDs. HSV 1 and 2 IgG positive indicated an old infection and a not a recent one as Ig M was negative. Moreover it is a combination test report for HSV 1and 2. HSV 1 is not a STD. Nearly 40-50% of any population would be reactive for HIV 1 infection at any point of time as it is such a common infection.
The second contact on 29th January (with your inner wear on and condom over penis) had no risk for HIV.
I hope you got the point, just relax.
Dr S.Murugan
My second encounter on 29th January was without condom. I fear that my penis might have contacted her vaginal fluids.
Regarding tests
1. HIV1 antigen & total antibodies to 1&2 (Chemiluminescence) : from some lab
2. HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST, SERUM @: From Dr.lalpath lab
I have following doubts
a) Are these reliable and done properly in India?? Did it test both antibodies or only antigen?? Because antigen will not be detected after few weeks.
b) Did these test also tested HIV2 also and am i negative for both HIV1 and HIV2 both??
c) I am feeling some burning sensation in body just like fever and i am also having fatigue. Is it symptom of HIV??
You are free from HIV 1 and 2 infection. Need no further testing.

Hi,
Welcome back.
Rubbing against the female genitals with under wear on has negligible risk for HIV even if her under wear was wet with her genital secretions. HIV can not survive outside the body fluids for more than few seconds and the transmission of HIV is facilitated by the presence of minute abrasions or scratch and not with intact skin. So your HIV risk is almost 'nil'.
a) Lal path lab is one of the reputed labs in XXXXXXX HIV Chemiluminescence (HIV P24 Antigen and Antibody 1 and 2 test) is a 4th generation test and is very much reliable to the extent of 99% and above, that too, after 6 months.
b) Both negative 4th generation test and the antibody screening test on August ruled out HIV 2 as well beyond any doubts.
c) Your symptoms are not related to HIV. Possibly due to your anxiety or due to some other problem. Consult a physician and get well. Forget about HIV.

Do i need further testing for HIV?
Both HIV 1 and 2 had been ruled out beyond any doubt.

HI,
Welcome back.
Your worry is baseless.
CMIA 4th generation HIV DUO test is highly reliable up to 99% or more. Moreover you had Rapid test (HIV screening test) also. Two different nonreactive tests 12 weeks after the exposure ruled out the possibility of HIV 1 and 2 to the extent of 100%. So you need not worry. Both HIV 1 and 2 had been ruled out. HIV 2 prevalence in Asia is less than 0.5% only. But that also ruled out. Simply forget about that incidence and HIV.
Dr S.Murugan
I did the following test
1) ELISA : Negavtive after 75 days of risky exposure
2) HIV1 antigen & total antibodies to 1&2 (Chemiluminescence) : non-reactive (0.04) 180 days from risky exposure
3) HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST, SERUM (CMIA): non-reactive (0.04) 185 days from risky exposure. ALso i took acyclovir for 5 days before i took last test.
Sir i am facing some heat sensation in body. Is it because of HIV2? Do i need any further testing?
Your symptoms are not related to HIV 2. No need for further test

Hi,
Welcome back.
The third test (HIV 1 and 2 antibody screening test) is nothing but Rapid test only.
Acyclovir has no influence on the test outcome.
Your symptoms are not related to HIV 2 infection. Not to worry.
