Question : Hello, I a had a c-section tens year ago and recently learned that I have extreme abdominal adhesions. My doctor indicated that I have three options, 1) not to do anything and this option is risky, 2) to completely take out my ovaries and uterus through laporatomy only because the adhesions are extremely bad, 3) do the laporatomy and cut away the scar tissues with using adhesives to prevent the return of the adhesions. I am 31 years old and I would really prefer not to take my uterus out as I am hoping to have another child. Do you think you can have a child after having the laporatomy with the the use of adhesives?

Thank you so much for your response, this was discovered through a laporascopy that was being done to remove a cyst, this is when they found out that adhesions were covering half of my overies on the right side. I am concerned only because of the infertility this has caused. I have been doing some research and I have read that the adhesions normally return after the laparotomy. Hopefully, this will not cause more infertility. What do you think? Again, thank you for your help.

I've been trying to conceive for more than a year, with no luck. I asked my doctor if I could do the laporascopy instead to remove the adhesives and informed me that their is too many adhesives and that I would have to do the laparotomy surgery instead. Again, thank you!

Hi dear again and thanks for trusting to us.
If you have tried to conceive for one year and the reason of your infertility are adhesions on your pelvis ,than I agree with you doctor to do a laparotomy while laparoscopy isn't helpful in your case.
From our practice we have seen that women who have had extensive adhesions around their tubes and ovaries ,fertility is returned .
Hence be calm and take a decision for laparotomy.
All the best
