default
Posted on Tue, 22 Sep 2015
Question: Hi my periods were finished on 30th Sep. I had unprotected sex with my bf on 3rd September. Within an hour of that, I had taken two ipills. I haven't had any vomits or any other side effects .Only last night had mild lower belly pain. But no bleeding or anything else is there(it's third day since I had the pills) . I am being very tensed. Can I be pregnant? Please help.

Brief Answer:
negligible chances of pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

You had intercourse on 3rd September. Your last period date was 30august (not September I guess).

There are negligible chances of pregnancy as you were in safe period and you also ipill within 1 hour of sex.

So, donot worry. Stay calm. Chances of pregnancy are negligible.

Pain in lower belly may be an indication that you might be having withdrawal bleeding due to ipill.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Thanks doc. But I haven't felt any bleeding. Pain was like I was having something pinching in my lower belly. There is no other effect that I have observed so far.

1) When I can expect the withdrawal bleeding? It's 3rd day since I had the pill.I took it at 12pm on 3rd Sep and today is 5th Sep.

2) what if there is no bleeding in the next few days? I have my period cycle of 28 days normally . I normally get down on two days sooner or later in general. Last period was from 26th Aug to 30th Aug(it got cleared on 30th Aug) .

3) I am being very tensed. Please tell me should I be worried ? Should I have some other med? Someone suggested me IUD and another person Misopistrol (I am not sure if that's the correct spell) . I don't know . I hve already taken 2 I Pills and that too within one hour. Please help, please!

Brief Answer:
no need to take any more pills.

Detailed Answer:
Dear,
Firstly, please do not panic

There is no need to take any other tablets.

You can expect bleeding with in 7 days. Sometimes there is no bleeding. You need not to worry about it. There is no need to repeat i-pill anymore.

As i told you previously that you had intercourse in safe period and you took i- pill with in one hour also.

If I-pill is taken with in 24 hours,it will be effective on preventing pregnancy in 99% cases.
So there will be no pregnancy.

Ipill may disturb your normal menstrual cycle. It may cause early or delayed periods for 2-3 months. This is common after taking ipill.

I request you to not worry anymore.

Hope my response relieves your anxiety.

I wish you well.
Take care.

Thanks Dr XXXXXXX I have been told by my bf that there is no need to panic and he was also mad on me that why I have taken two pills. But as I have told you, I am very much tensed. I have read about pill and there is something called "withdrawal bleeding" that's mentioned by the pill. I haven't had any bleeding till now. It's 6th Sep and it's the fourth day. So all I can do is wait and watch? If I won't get any bledding, shall I go for a test? If yes, when i should go when it would be reliable? I guess by 20th?

I believe it was safe period only. But since my bf had ejaculated within me, I immediately took two pills. After that, he only used finger and didn't insert in me again. That's okay right? He was wearing his lower and shorts after that when he was rubbin him over me. I don't think that should be an issue.

Thanks so much for listening to me. You are an angel! Please bear with me in this tensed period of mine. Will be waiting for your reply .

Brief Answer:
withdrawal bleeding may or may not occur.

Detailed Answer:
You are most welcome dear.

I understand how tense this situation can be for a female.
You can ask number of questions you want to. I will be more than happy to help you.

As I told earlier, withdrawal may take 7 days to occur and in some cases, there is no bleeding either or its just spotting. This does not mean that ipill has not worked. You should wait patiently.

Even if he ejaculated inside you, there are almost nil chances of pregnancy as you had double protection, safe period and ipill.

If you wish to go for a home pregnancy test, it is reliable as early as 2 weeks after intercourse, that is after 17th September.

Fingering after ejaculation is okay.

Do not worry about pregnancy.

Hope this help you.

Feel to ask further anytime.
Take care.

thanks dr XXXXXXX yes my bf also mentioned that it was a safe period. But dr. one of my friend said there is nothing called safe period. I finished my periods on 30th Aug. After that, in the morning about 11am , we had sex and then by 12, I took two pills. I know all females are different but I am not sure that if within 4 days, I could be ovulating. Don't know to be honest. I went to a nearby clinic and you know what, that dr started laughing over me. I was so tensed and she was like, you don't know even this much. Heck! I am an engineer , I am not an uneducated person but that doesn't mean that I do know about all these things. I just came back and cried.

SO I won't be needing any pills or med now? Someone asked me to take somethinng called Misopistrol or sommething like that. Don't know what it is. I am having no signs of bleeding yet.

Thanks so much for being so helpful!

Brief Answer:
no need of any more pills.

Detailed Answer:
Dear,
I do not agree with your friend. There is certainly a safe period. NO women will ovulate in first seven days of last period.

That was so unprofessional on your doctor's part. She should have explained yiu the facts.

You do not need anymore pill now.

Misoprostol is used for abortion. You donot need it now for sure.

Do not worry.

Take care dear.

Thanks.

Thanks so much Dr.

So even if there is no bleeding in the next few days, it can be considered okay? One of my married friend told me that she finished her periods and thenthe following week, she had a lot of sex-about 2 times in the night for the entire week. Her husband got her an iPill and she had that . After about 10 days, she had a little bit of bleeding which she ignored. Then she said she felt electric current sort of in her breasts and also, a lot of nausea. Her periods were delayed for about 10 days. She didn't do any tests though. After that she was into a lot of house chores lile cleaning etc. After about 15days from the date, she got her periods and it was so much painful and the flowwas also very high. Now she said, she must have concieved and the heavy flow was due to miscarriage. But when I read about the pill over the net, I could see the same things being written about the pill and it's after effects too. She definitely had one just one pill in the entire week not like that after every night, she would swallow one. She just got me scared saying that you never know and safe period is nothing. Please, tell me what could have happened? In my case, we just did once and I had the pill right away. Also, my bf didn't enter in me afterwards but just used finger.

He did rub me with his trousers on. His trouser was wet (a little) with his semen I guess but that shouldn't be a problem, right? I have read that sperms can't travel through clothes etc.

I am not going to take any more med . I am just trying to relax my mind but thre is no bleeding and that's making me worried. As you said, bleeding may or may not occur. What would it mean if it won't occur? Can you please explain this to me? i haven't gotten any signs of bleeding yet.

I shall do a test on 20th of this month.

And yes, can I post the next question personally to you ? Thanks so much for bearing with me.

Brief Answer:
sperms do not pass through clothes.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
If there is no bleeding, there is no need to worry. I will explain you why. You had taken ipill within 4 days of menses. This time is not enough for uterine lining to grow enough to cause shedding and thus there would be no bleeding.

Also, this immature uterine lining is not conducive for implantation. This is another reason that there will be no pregnancy.

The bleeding which your friend experienced was probably due to effect of ipill. Ipill can cause irregular periods for initial 2-3 months.

Regarding sperms, they are not passed through clothes. They die as soon as they come in contact with air.

If bleeding does not occur, this means your uterine lining was not enough formed for shedding (as I explained earlier).

Hope this answers your query satisfactorily.

You can surely post your question directly to me. I would be happy to be in regular touch with you till you feel comfortable. You can ask as many questions as you want. I would be waiting for more questions from you :)
Hope to hear from you soon directly on my profile.

Take care.
Regards.

Oh gosh, that was far more technically given answer and yes, that has eased out my mind a little. I shall be honest with you , I am still not completely at ease but I am sure you do understand it so well that it's not my fault :(.

Being an engineer, i actually did read myself a little and I came to find out that most of the times, ipill won't cause bleeding as it may occur when there is a conception. Or, one has taken med for abortion. But to tell you honestly dr XXXXXXX I am still wishing to get the bleeding as it may ease me out a little.

Thanks so much for having so much patience and listening out to me. I am surely surely going to be asking on your personal profile page and shall be updating you how I am doing in these days. This was a really really stupid mistake and I certainly don't wantto be in the same situation ever again. My bf has been very supportive so far but to be honest, he is also worried but he has asked me to stay calm. I have been telling him all the details that we are discussing and he is very convinced and has asked me to say thanks to you. So thanks to you from him as well. I just hope it ends soon and without any more issues.

Thanks so much once again , you truly are an XXXXXXX

I completely understand your concerns.

In future, your partner should use a condom. That would be a safer choice.

I also hope that this ends soon for you.

I will be eagerly waiting for your queries in future as well.

Kindly close the discussion for now and give your valuable feedback.

I wish you well.
