Brief Answer:
Pregnancy unlikely, possibility of hormone imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

In the manner you have described, pregnancy is unlikely because of the facts that she had an emergency contraceptive within the stipulated time after the sexual act and that she had a natural period after the incident. Yet, please remember that there is no need for ejaculation to happen to cause conception. Even the pre-ejaculate contains sufficient sperm to cause conception during the fertile or ovulatory period.

The cause of this delay is more likely to be a transient hormone imbalance. The emergency pill contains high dose of hormone and this can lead to disruption of the hormone milieu. Hence, menstrual disturbances can be expected for a couple of cycles. In addition, stress also can lead to this situation.

In the current scenario, she needs to see a specialist for a proper clinical evaluation, a trans-vaginal sonogram to know the status of the pelvic organs and a blood test for pregnancy if necessary. If pregnancy is excluded, hormones can be given to induce a period.

Maintenance of a healthy weight, healthy diet and regular exercise are required to assist in maintaining proper hormone balance.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.
