Question : Hi, I need help. I had unprotected sex on the 4th which is the last day of my period which was on January 9th. Although I took an emergency contraceptive pill(i-pill) within 17 hours after intimation. What are my chances of unwanted pregnancy or are there any further steps that I can take to completely avoid it? I am so tensed.
Brief Answer:
No chance of pregnancy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
You did SAFE sex on D4 of your period cycle and took I-pill within 17 hrs which will give more than 95% extra protection against unwanted pregnancy.
In this case, you have NO chance of pregnancy because that day (9th Jan) was NOT your ovulation day or fertile day. Therefore, you wouldn't be worried about that.
Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.
All the best and good luck.

Hi,
Thank you doctor for your reply. Although today(January 14th) I noticed I had a brown colour discharge. Is this something I have to worry about, like is it an implantation bleeding symptom or a withdrawal bleeding due to the i-pill? So, I had my period on 6th January, which means I am expecting my next period to start on 4 or 5th Feb. But what about this spotting that I had today, it is the 5th day after I took the i-pill.

Brief Answer:
Withdrawal bleeding. Don't be worried.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up query.
Don't be worried. You don't ovulate till now. Your ovulation day is around 19-21st January according to last period date. Therefore, you are completely SAFE and you have NO chance of pregnancy.
Brown discharge or bleeding is due to effect of I-pill. It is withdrawal bleeding. It is quite common and natural phenomena. It will stop automatically within 3-5 days. You just maintain genital hygiene properly.
Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion.
All the best and good luck.
