Question: Hlw doctor I and my girlfriend had Unprotected sex on 2nd February... And she had i-pill with in 24 hours.. so is there is any chance of pregnancy? ??

Thanks for writing in to us.

The iPill should be taken only in case of emergency and it should be taken within 4 hours of probable unprotected sex for maximum protection. It contains a high dose of hormones which will not allow pregnancy to happen. With any emergency pill there might be 1 to 5 percent chance of pregnancy if taken within 6 to 24 hours.

Taking iPill can cause early or delayed periods for the next two cycles and it is possible that her periods will be early or late. Please do not worry.

Emergency pills like iPill must be taken only in emergency and not more than once in 2 to 3 months. Taking it frequently can cause irregular periods, ovarian cysts and infertility. This is because it contains a high dose of hormones.

Always use condoms when having sex with girlfriend
