Is Pregnancy Possible Through Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am asking this question on behalf of my girlfriend. we had protected sex 14 days before 5 days of her periods. Condom did not get broken. She got the periods as expected. But yesterday onwards she is facing the issues of tiredness, vomiting sensation and huge stomauch pain. So she is worried and getting anxious on whether condom was not properly used or got broken.

So I want to confirm is there any chance of pregnancy when she gets periods, sex after 5 days.

If there is a possibility of pregnancy she shouldn't have got periods...isn't it?.

could you please share the facts on this

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to health care magic, I share your concern and I will try to help you out in best possible way.
Since there was regular period even after having sex, there is no need to worry as there are no chances of pregnancy whatsoever. If in case there was an accidental leakage from condom, the periods woudn't have occured regularly, also since you had sex 5 days before her period, there would be no ovulation at all as ovulation occurs around 14th day of cycle.
Coming to present symptoms, these can be caused by a variety of conditions like usage of birth control pills or even pills for abortion, dysfuntional uterine bleedong etc.. which should be evaluated clinically to arrive at proper diagnosis. Hence I recommend you to visit a gynaecologist. But there is no neet to get concerned regarding pregnancy as its ruled out.
I hope this helps you
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
