Question : My partner has been diagnosed with prostrate cancer that has spread to his bones, the dr has suggested immediate treatment.. ADT , Is it correct that the cancer is not curable, and the treatment will only delay or slow down the cancer? XXXXXXX

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that partner has advanced cancer of the prostate.

Unfortunately cancer of the prostate in advanced stage is incurable and treatment like Androgen Depletion Therapy helps to reduce the severity of the symptoms and further spread of the disease.

Ok so its incurable, does the treatment suggested, ADT really help slow it down? He has been told that at the most without treatment he will have two years left.. I wonder how much extra life will he be able to have with treatment? Treatment side effects as I see it are rather severe and completely life changing. Is it worth having for an extra few months, or even a year. We are very concerned about quality of life with treatment?

Thanks for follow up.Androgen Depletion Therapy is commonly used as a palliation treatment to improve quality of life in cancer of Prostate.It has very minimal side effects compared to other chemotherapeutic drugs used in treating cancer of other organs. .He will definitely have good quality of life for rest of his life span.

Finally it is your individual discretion to decide whether you should go for it or not
