Is Random Blood Sugar Level Of 300 A Cause For Concern?

Question: Two day ago I fractured my left elbow (capitulum) now my random blood sugar level is 300. I dont feel like any symptoms of diabetes.

Is pain causing the elevated blood sugar or something else.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.

High blood sugar level may be due to stress or use of some medicines like steroids.
In such case I may suggest OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) & HbA1c level.
Though fasting and post-prandial blood sugar can be done instead of OGTT.

Most of the patient do not have classical symptoms of diabetes at diagnosis and detected as diabetic accidentally during evaluation of some other disease or part of routine evaluation.
