Question : URGENT: Prednisone reaction: am taking 20 mg of oral prednisone (3xday) 10 days. I took first 3 last night. I have a mild rash on the insides of my palms. Since this a common side effect? Do i need to go for medical help soon or not? I feel fine. Thank you

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query.

Nothing serious. You may take an OTC antihistamine e.g tab cetrizine 10 mg once daily at night for a few days.

Topically you may apply a soothing lotion to calm down the rash e.g calamine lotion.

I would like to know the reason for which prednisolone was prescribed.

I forgot to tell you that it is being taken for mild pneumonia plus antibiotics I was not hospitalized. It is a short term course - how long should the rash last? Thank yiu.
