Question : My 16 year old son has a small red mole - approx 5mm in diameter with a raised lump surrounding it - approx 3 centimetres in diameter. As he normally suffers from normal teenage pimples and acne I never noticed this mole before but he tells me he has had it for approx 18 months. Could it possibly be a skin cancer. I plan to see a GP as soon as possible.

Hello dear,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I have read your query and understood your concern.
It is highly unlikely to be skin cancer in this age group.
It can simply be a nevus.
I will advice you to put a pic of the mole so that I can actually visualise it and help you to my best.
stay healthy.
