Question: If I get the infection cured in my impacted tooth, do I still need a root canal?

No, impacted tooth need extraction in case of infection.

Thanks for writing in.

Infection in tooth can never be subsided with just medicines. Rather it requires proper treatment which includes RCT or extraction. In your case, you have mentioned its impacted tooth and RCT is not possible in Impacted tooth, hence its always better to get it extracted if it is causing any trouble.
