Saliva is slightly alkaline and will be helpful in decreasing the effect of acid if you have a reflux. Otherwise it doesn't have any good or bad effect on the banded varices.

Ascites is fluid in the abdomen in the peritoneal cavity and outside the GI tract.
You have to restrict salt and fluid intake as per your doctor's instructions. Saliva is fluid already present in the body. Spitting it out helps only marginally.
