Question: I take lisinopril and bisoprolol for blood pressure and I find that I get short of breath after climbing 2-3 flights of stairs and it takes several minutes to recover. Is this to be expected with these medicines?

Brief Answer:
rare side effect of bisoprolol but should rule out heart disease

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This is a rare side effect of the bisoprolol (2% of persons- 2 out of 100 persons who use this medication would have this side effect.

Lisinopril is not associated with this side effect.

There is no interaction between the medications.

With a history of high blood pressure, you may want to rule out any heart disease by doing an ECG and possibly an echo depending on the physical examination and ECG findings.

If these are normal or you had these tests recently and they were normal, then you should consider speaking to your doctor again about the bisoprolol.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
