Brief Answer:
Sore throat is not specific symptom of HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome to HCM.

Mild or painful sorethroat is not specific symptom of HIV or ARS as it might be due to other infection also so no need to think much or get tensed about HIV. Tell me in detail about your exposure so that I can tell whether you are at risk of HIV or not. Calm down and get back to me with detailed history.

Thank You

Thank you for the answer. I think I am at risk. I had unprotected sex many times with my soon to be ex girlfriend. I found this morning antibiotics to treat Trich (trichonas) I have been complaining for 2 weeks of burning sensations when I pee. I am presently in Asia. 2 weeks ago, doctor here gave me antibiotics to treat urinay tract infection, did not work, went back a week later, gave me antibiotics to treat Chlamydia and gonorrhoea, as well as drops for pinks eyes. I got urine tests and blood. Blood test partially came back, hiv antibody negative, syphilis negative. Still waiting for the other reaults, ie chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and others, it takes 2 weeks to get results here. Sore throats started last week, pink eyes pretty much gone, still using drops one in a while.

Brief Answer:
Not related to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

The symptoms you had mentioned are suggestive of urinary tract infection in my opinion not related to HIV or any other STI and HIV antinody test also came negative then don't get worried or tensed for HIV because the risk seems to be very unlikely.

As your friend I will advice you to stay away from such unsafe sexual practices to prevent the future risk of HIV and other STDs. Be relaxed, forget this episode and move on in life. For any further query feel free to ask me and I am here to help you out.

Thank You

Thank you for he answer. I will be practicing safe sex. The thing is, my gf was unfaithful, I found antibiotics to treat Trich. That being said, there is a possibility that she was infected with hiv as well. I am not an expert, but if he am not mistaking, early infection cannot be detected with antibody test, hence my first question, can a mild sore throat, lasting more than 7 days, with no other aperant symptoms could be a sign of ARS ?

Brief Answer:
It is not the symptom of ARS.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome back once again.

You are right that early infection can't be detected with antibody test but still negative antibody result is good indicator of absence of infection and mild sore throat is also not the symptom of ARS so no need to get worried or feared and move ahead in life happily. For any query get back to me again.
