Brief Answer:
treatment is normally done via endoscopy

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Sepsis implies that there is generalized severe infection , it usually starts when an original small infection spreads to other areas.

The risk of sepsis is low since at present his main issue is the bleeding ulcer not an infection and any surgery , if needed would be done under sterile conditions.

If he has a concurrent infection then there is a risk of spread and sepsis if the initial infection is not controlled or responding to medication.
If it is responding then again, the risk if low.

In terms of treatment of bleeding ulcers, it can be treated during an endoscopy.

This means that there are different treatment options that can be applied during this procedure, open cutting is normally not needed.

Eg hemostatic clips (clipping or clamping bleeding blood vessels), injection therapy, coagulation therapy (using meds to help increase clotting in area)

These are some of the endoscopic treatment options.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Hello Doctor, thank you.
The endoscope , located the bleed. It is an old stomach ulcer and the bleeding is stopped.
However the doctor said he did not like the look of the ulcer and has taken a biopsy and sent it to see if it is cancer. We will know in two days.
Surgery is not be proposed by the medical team in any event.
I Will ask another question after the test results come back.
Thank you,
