Brief Answer:
Persistent symptoms after I and D requires fistula surgery.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, fistula operated for I&D and having persistent symptoms need surgery to correct the fistula.

* In our hospital, we recommend surgery for low fistula when a patient has

- Persistent perianal discharge on and off
- Recurrent infection
- A need of recurrent antibiotics

* If you provide me all details of your symptoms, duration of I&D and other relevant details, I can focus still more precisely in your case.

Awaiting your response.
Thank you.

Hi,

The abscess has been cured by surgeon 3 months ago however I still see a small opening at the site of the wound and hardened tissue in between the opening and anus in 10'clock position which is not being healed also, causing me persistent throbbing pain and anal discomfort. Therefore, I had visited gastro surgeon and explained the symptoms and he requested for MRI Pelvis and Endo Anal Scan for the identifying the problem.
He then told me that I would be requiring a surgery to relieve from these symptoms as there is a small track inside the Anus.

I have done my reach and found that there are various techniques to treat this medical condition like fistulotomey, VAAFT or LIFT etc... however I am really scared of the complications post the surgery like incontinence, sphincter damage or recurrent fistulae which is making me nervous and causing me serious trauma. With all this information I am unable to perform my daily activities and chores.

I really need your help and expertise in matter as I am planning for a surgery next week attached few reports.

Brief Answer:
Open fistulectomy is gold standard treatment for your case.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

* As the track is of 4.3 cm size, it is significant and needs definite surgical correction.

* There are various procedures available and it has its own advantages and disadvantages for the particular case.

* As per my surgical experience, the open fistulectomy is the best and gold standard treatment of the fistula of your type.
VAAFT and other procedures have not much of the benefits above this and not recommended as per my surgical experience of 20 years.

So far as recurrence is concern, any procedure can give that in future; open fistulectomy
has least chances.

The loss of control of defecation is taken care very well by experts and should not worry in hands of experts.

Being nervous will not solve the issue dear, just be courageous and face the issue and get cured.

Wish you best of luck for fine surgery and outcome.
Regards
