Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I don't know the details of your case so I will try and be as general as possible.
An umbilical hernia is a defect in the wall of the abdomen formed by muscles and tendons. This defect allows stuff like loops of bowel and fatty tissue to travel through it. Thats not such a big deal.
The big deal happens when the bowel or other tissue gets stuck in the defect and blood cant get to the stuck portions. That called a strangulation and if it's not treated surgically and quickly, it can be fatal.
There is generally no really good way to fix these things without some minimal surgery. I would definitely explore the different types of surgery out there and the different types of meshes. But they are all placed surgically.
I hope this helps. Feel free to follow-up
