Is Taking Metformin After A CT Scan With Contrast Harmful?

Question: I accidently took 1 metformin after a ct scan with contrast
Brief Answer:
VERY VERY rare
Detailed Answer:
Good day.
noted your concern.
not to worry. CT scan contrast can cause renal damage sometimes. if that happens , metformin cannot be excreted out of body by kidney efficiently and there is a risk of lactic acidosis. . however this risk of lactic acidosis is very very minimal and rarely seen. Lactic acidosis with metformin is largely seen in text books rather than in clinical practice. Not to worry. drink plenty of water. Get a serum creatinine and urea checked today or tomorrow.
