Brief Answer: may need imaging Detailed Answer: HI, thanks for using healthcare magic Normally after any head injury, it is best to avoid any chemical agents that could produce any symptoms similar to those that can occur with head trauma. This prevents any confusion between head injury symptoms and symptoms occurring as a result of the particular drug or chemical. Alcohol can cause dizziness and headaches in some so this should be avoided till you are no longer experiencing these issues. In addition, head injury can decrease tolerability to alcohol. Cigarettes and caffeine are not commonly associated these symptoms but caffeine is normally avoided because it can worsen any irritability or sleep issues associated with the head injury. There have been some medical issues looking at caffeine in head injury, some show it is helpful whereas others indicates it may be problematic. Because you are still having symptoms especially the headache , you may want to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment. There is a set of criteria called the new orleans criteria for head injury and in that guideline - if a headache is present then imaging (CT scan) is needed. If you have already had one done then it does not need repeating. Summary: (1) persistent headache may mean imaging is needed if not yet done (2)no alcohol till symptoms completely resolve (3)smoking is allowed because would not cause neurological symptoms (4)caffeine- may cause sleep disturbance I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

It contains less than 0.5% in each can, is that ok or stay strictly on zero percent? Thanks

Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (17 minutes later)
Brief Answer: none would be better Detailed Answer: Hi It would be safer to limit it to zero for now since you are still having symptoms. If you do decide to use it, it would be best to use no more than 1.
