Im being panaroid and Thinking that Veterinary physician may touch the saliva of a Dog and than he might touch that Paper written By him and gave it to My brother and after 5-10 min when My brother came home from Veterinary Clinic and gave that paper to me than that paper may touch my scratch.

Doctor are You 100 percent sure that I will not rabies in this way? and No vaccination required? Because I read that rabies can supread if saliva wil touch the scratch.... So I was thinking that that paper may have saliva in it....

Brief Answer:
Rest assured... No rabies...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You can be rest assured that you won't be infected with rabies by touch a prescription paper.

All doctors including vet doctors follow safety precautions that includes wearing gloves while examining. Used gloves are discarded. He won't be filling prescription forms with gloved hands. So definitely prescription paper is free from any contact to infected material.

Further more these (rabies) viruses do not survive a lot in external environment. So any salivary contact is easily evaporated and infectious material are destroyed.

So yes, I am positive that you won't be infected with Rabies by touching that prescription.

Hope I am clear.

Brief Answer:
Survival depends on environmental factors

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1. Rabies virus just like other virus depend on favorable environment and media to survive. On a bright XXXXXXX day with temperatures of 30 deg C, rabies virus may survive at most for an hour or 1.5 hours. Survival is much lower if temperatures are higher.

2. I would be worried about rabies infection if there is XXXXXXX bite, scratch contamination from a rabid dog / animal / human. Infection from such sources are almost nullified with rabies vaccinations.

3. From any other source, besides what I wrote in point number 2 such as scratch from tables, materials or shaking hand doesn't lead to infection. But yes, if there is salivary contamination (such as dog licking this wound), there may be from it.

4. An alcohol disinfected wound can still transmit infection if it's contaminated from saliva of rabid dogs.

I hope I have answered all your questions.

Regards

Doc I have few Questions:-

1. I was In A clinic. A Boy Come there and said to the doctor that he was bitten By a Dog before 1-2 hour before in his Leg and he showed it to the doctor. Doctor recomendedhim vaccination. And when He was Going Out from that Doc's Room He touched My Hand...
Can I get Rabies In this way? Should I worried about this incident?? I did not Found any open Wound on my hand there are Very much Tiny SCAB, minor pimples , red rashes. OR this incident has not any exposure and Im safe.

2. Doc if a person has taken two booster doses and after 3-4 day of these booster doses an exposure of rabies happend than, will you recomend two more booster doses of that person?

3. How long a person dont need any vaccination who took booster doses??

Brief Answer:
No infection chances...

Detailed Answer:
Apologies for the late reply.

To answer your first question, as I mentioned in my previous reply, you don't get rabies infection by shaking hands with a person bitten by a dog. So you shouldn't be worried of infections from this episode irrespective of whether you have an injury or not.

2. Pre exposure rabies prophlyaxis may last upto 10 years. But it's always better to take vaccination atleast 2 doses for added benefits.

3. If you had 2 boosters as a part of pre exposure prophlyaxis then had a dog bite 3 days later, you need not consider vaccinations.

In the nutshell, you don't need to be worried about rabies after casual touch or handshake. And if the boosters are part of preexposure then no more vaccinations.

Hope this helps.

regards

Thank You Doctor for Your Quick Response In detail....

This is My last Questions...
-------------------------------

Actully I read WHO where They say two Booster Doses Require if any exposure happend after Pre-exposure vaccination and Post-exposure prophylaxis. This makes me confuse.

1. Doctor Are You 100 percent Sure that I will not Get Rabies In this way.... ? Actully I was Thinking He might Touch his wound where Dog Bitten and with same hand he touched my Biceps .His hands contain saliva of dog or something...

My Biceps has some Red Rashes, pimples and very tiny SCAB.
Is That TINY SCAB(खुरंट) will not be able to trasmit Rabies? Actully I read that Rabies an be trasmit if saliva touch Minor scratch or Abrations...

In My case, U mean this situation doesnot have any exposre even if I have TINY SCAB(खुरंट) on my hand...right..?

2. Doc after taking two booster doses (On day 0 and day 3) If a dog Bite a person after 8-9 days than In this situation further booster doses required or previous booster doses are sufficient? how long a person doesnot require any further vaccine if any exposure happend??

3. doctor I took AbhayRab(5 doses)... and I took 2 booster doses of Rabipur as booster dose .... Is Changing Brand in Vaccine will cause any Impact on vaccine Impact? or they will work perfectly??

How To rate a doctor On healthcare magic?

Thank You Doctor... Thank Yoy for giving Answers In detail... Its quite informative to talk with you.. Gud Night...

Brief Answer:
No infection...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I'm confident that you won't have infection after touching/shaking hands though you have an scab or bruise.

Generally when a prophylaxis is taken adequately as in your case you remain protected for about 10 years. However after an exposure like a new dog bite injury it is beneficial to check antibody titres if feasible. If antibody titres test is unavailable then I recommend two additional booster doses.
In other words the two booster doses you've had should protect you for atleast 10 years. But during those 10 years if you were to have another bite injury take 2 more booster doses or get rabies antibody titres checked. I didn't recommend these now is since you just had boosters few days ago.

Finally changing brands don't affect effective protection significantly.

Hope this answers all your question. Should you have any more doubts feel free to ask.

Regards
